Sep 11, 2017 About This Game London has been lost to the undead plague. Overrun by hordes of mutated zombies, the last hope rests in the united fists of four lone outcasts. Bloody Zombies is a co-op brawler designed to be played.
With a simultaneous launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, gamers of virtually all stripes can dive into Bloody Zombies today. We sat down with nDreams Communications Manager Dan Sheridan to pick his brain and celebrate the game’s release. What was the initial inspiration behind Bloody Zombies?Dan Sheridan: We wanted to create a unique, gritty brawler that was seeping with British heritage and fun to play with friends, with or without VR. We’re all super excited by the opportunity for diorama titles in VR—the viewpoint is really striking and offers something very different than first-person titles. Also, we know people are clawing out for full, long-form games in VR, and several third-person titles have allowed this to happen.Combat was heavily inspired by action games with an accessible, complex, and expandable combat system—games like, and come to mind.In terms of classic brawlers, there’s obviously some similarities. We also love arcade brawlers like and, especially with the refinements that they bring to the genre.
However, we’ve been keen to focus on how we can evolve and refine the genre rather than becoming an homage to these titles. We feel we’ve done this in many ways, most notably around combat, presentation, and the VR functionality. What kind of community response have you seen since thus far?DS: The community has been very receptive to the diorama style of gameplay in VR. It’s also been very satisfying to hear that the game brings back memories of playing classic brawlers like Streets of Rage and Final Fight. We’ve designed the game to be accessible, but deep enough to be appreciated by fans of brawlers and beat ’em ups.If you’re a fan of games like, then Bloody Zombies will be for you. The core focus of this is the free-form combat system—while the core moves are very immediate and simple to pull off, they can be chained together in complex, discoverable ways to create huge combos.
Project titles in java. Net Cackle123. Automation Of Dossier Sharing122. Back To My Village124. Universal DB Interface121. Forest Management System127.
Combine that with unlockable, upgradable specials, melee weapons, a huge diversity of enemy types, and a deep scoring system, and you get a game that genre enthusiasts can enjoy. How did you capitalize on the nature of VR to make Bloody Zombies as immersive and fun as possible?DS: The enhanced VR viewpoint gives each team a unique insight into each level and encourages players to work together. In VR, you can lean in and look around to overcome obstacles and give tactical support that’s only possible through the use of a VR headset.VR and non-VR players both have full access to all content in the game, and core gameplay is the same. Our VR enhancements are purely focused on the unique affordances allowed by the device and reward collaboration without excluding access to content to non-VR players.
A good example of this is the secrets in the first level. These are much easier to spot for a VR player who can look around to find them. However, even with a team made up of purely non-VR players, these secrets could be stumbled upon accidentally or deciphered through subtle environment hints.Additionally, we feel we’re offering something different to players in VR, not only from a genre mechanic and a standout diorama art style, but also as a game they can play with their friends who’ve yet to take the plunge into virtual reality.
Submitted on 2/21/2018 Review title of Random Guy 90Good, but nearly impossible soloEither this game has the same difficulty regardless of the player count (1-4), or it is the Dark Souls of the arcade brawlers. I like co-op games, but I don't like to be FORCED to play co-op, especially when it's needlessly. This game gets extremely hard playing solo on level 3 (at least with the big guy character).
With that said, it is a great brawler (until they decide to just overwhelm you with tough enemies in level 3). There's a lot of depth to the moveset, there's decent progression, and enemy types that force you to use different tactics, it's not a mindless brawler. It's annoying some of the powers don't seem to work right. But, it also has a cool atmosphere and style, and levels include hidden secrets to find. It's a really fun game.until they decide to just overwhelm you, which happens way too soon. Submitted on 5/12/2019 Review title of BuckleSandwichNot goodI bought this game despite mixed reviews because I'm a huge fan of beat-em-ups. I regret my purchase.
The player character is abysmally slow and the 3D hit detection is too narrow (meaning you must be on the EXACT plane as the enemy to make contact). It's not TERRIBLE-the art is good and bosses seem cool-but it's just not fun. MAYBE pick it up if price drops below $5, otherwise just do yourself a favor and just go play Charlie Murder on the 360 instead. Submitted on 12/5/2019 Review title of BloodyKisses xFun With Friends OnlyBloody Zombies is only meant to be beaten with multiple players. If you plan on playing this solo, you're gonna have a bad time.
No matter how many players are present, the zombie count is the same. This makes some levels nearly impossible to beat with 1 or 2 players. Example being in level 9, a lift has to be raised to proceed by mashing a button. All the while zombies are constantly spawing and won't stop until the lift is up. You can't raise the lift while fighting or being attacked, so how do you beat it on solo? Finding other players is hard because no one plays.
Often you'll have zombies not lined up with you which can hit you but you can't hit them. Bloody Zombies isn't all bad, the graphics are nice and the different types of zombies are pretty creative. Though you'll moan over the big riot armor zombie because he appears way too often and takes longer to kill than the bosses. This could've been funner if multiple players weren't required.
Solo players need to avoid.
