Based on a quick playthrough, Game of Thrones Ascent seems to be a social MMO, much in the same vein as 5th Planet Games’ flagship title Dawn of the Dragons or Kabam’s Kingdoms of Camelot, though missions do seem to offer some flexibility when it comes to a players’ moral alignment. Like other such titles, there are social mechanics that offer users the ability to ally with one another in order to achieve milestones, as well as player-versus-player gameplay.Licensed games are often regarded warily by video gamers, though social titles seem to be better-received than their mainstream brethren (especially when it comes to IP with insanely devoted followings like Game of Thrones or The Avengers). Prior to Ascent, the Game of Thrones brand has received a few video game adaptations, which have largely been treated to middling reviews.
