I really do love Dark Dawn and all the possibilities the plot in a 4th game could have but there is one thing I just can't get my head off.The randomness in various parts of the game!First of all, the villains needed a group of Adepts (all elements included) to activate the 2 Alchemy Machines for them in the Ei-Jei region, so they made sure that these Adepts would appear there right? How sneaky of them to make Matthew and co. Embark on a journey to get the feather while making them detour to the southern part of Angara.well. Wrong! It was pure luck and randomness that brought Matthew and co.

In the Konpa cave, if Tyrell never destroyed the Soarwing, there would be no reason for them to take that journey and the villains could never carry out their plan. One could argue that they would somehow make them go to Ei-Jei or just kidnap another Adept if they found one. This really bothers me, in the first game Saturos and Menardi tried to get the Stars and activate the lighthouses whether Isaac-Felix etc. Existed or not, they were not dependent on them! Even more bizzarely, DD has the worst case of identity crisis I've seen in gaming.

Takahashi bros claimed it was for new fans not the old, but it was stuffed full of so much nostalgia bait it hurt. It didn't know if it wanted Light and Dark to be elements or not, so it called them fundaments, said they exist, and left us hanging for what the heck that even means. Didn't know if it wanted returning heroes or new heroes, so it just cloned the old guys and made slapdash attempts at new characters, all of whom happen to be some degree of royalty for some reason. And look at the unleashes! All the old unleashes follow the same 35-45% power rule that the GBA games had (added damage was 35-45% of the weapon's attack power with a few exceptions), but all the new unleashes were multipliers.

It gets super awkward when you take into account the removal of crits for generic unleashes. All of which can be said to be more powerful than standard unleashes and even many spells. Poor Shuriken. Iirc, a 70% multiplier for like 8 or so PP, outdone by a freaking basic longsword at 130% power for free. The Gaia Blade's even weirder - it got buffed, but its unleash stayed the same, meaning that it's signature unleash is actually one of its weaker unleashes! If they'd redone everything to the new design philosophy, it'd have been better. If they'd chosen to move forward and do their own thing rather than using nostalgia as a crutch, it'd have been better.

If they had sat down and made the Vale Kids their own classes, it'd have been better (how the hell is Tyrell, the act-first-think-later character, SLOW?! Dood should have been a high attack, high speed, low defense class!). Had they sat down and tried to please themselves by making a game they could be proud of instead of trying to appease this nebulous 'everyone else', the game would have been better.Poor DD just doesn't know what the heck it wants to be.:c. That's why I'd want to see someone else do GS4 if it happens. Get a group known for design by analysis to really look into what made those games enjoyable, find out what some of the more common complaints are and rather than just addressing them, try and piece out WHY those are the complaints.' Unleahes OP, psynergy too weak' is caused by a lack of proper stat support for psynergy, for example.' The game has lower replay value compared to the older games' might not speak to its content, but rather to its similarities - repetition of classes, spells, and equipment for instance.

Easy fix is to just get new stuff. Disney crossy road. Hell, one only needs look at everyone's love of the Sword of Dusk for that.'

Why is this so easy' isn't talking about the game being easy, it's talking a pacing problem. You get strong way too freaking fast in DD! In all other games, you get your full team together about a third of the way in, with 1-3 djinn of each element by the time it happens (TLA's post-reunion bit isn't finishing the team, but adding a second team).

By having a team of 8, the last of whom is gained literally right before the last dungeon, DD's pacing got wrecked hard. Hell, you had 6 djinn classes by the time you got DD's equivalent of your third character (remember, DD introduces 2 characters for every 1 of the GBA games). Between that and the meandering that gets done in several sections of the game, you get way too strong way too fast, enemies just don't stand a chance.' - this one's easy. The GBA games had straight up metroidvania elements. You take a metroid fan and give them a game with points of no return, and they'll freaking riot. That's what happened here - we went from games that literally rebuilt bridges to facilitate your exploration and backtracking, that had not just side dungeons to backtrack to but whole freaking quests (hello, Lunpa!), to.

DD slapping your hand when you went back for that one djinn you missed. Easy solution is easy - focus on exploration, rather than forcing the player forward for 'plot' reasons.Bam, four tiny bits of analysis, and that was just surface level stuff off the top of my head. Imagine what someone who's actual job this was could do. I agree with your points, these are the biggest problems DD has.Another dev. Team would be a good solution I am only afraid the next game would lose the charm Golden Sun is known for (if Dark Dawn did something right is the fact that it plays and feels like a GS game).I guess time will tell what the new game will look like.if it will ever happen.but I try to keep positive about it!Even a new team might not happen, Camelot did it's experiments with DD, the next game can be made adressing and fixing the aforementioned problems!.DD does and doesn't feel like a GS game, IMO.

In some ways it does, but for the wrong reasons (these classes/spells/weapons again?), while in others. Why'd they desaturate the game compared to the GBA games? The heck is with the odd overworld models? Who in their right mind thought that the main screen should be the touch screen rather than doing the genius thing an putting the menu there?

Like, top screen is rarely used! Everything is done in a line? What is this, the PS3 XMB? The hell is with this Points of No Returns nonsense, that's a literal anti-gs move. Why did they give Piers' class to this desert kid? Why the hell does Eoleo just have a physical remix of Jenna's class?

WHY DOES HE ONLY HAVE 3 WEAPON TYPES?! What happened to battles? Why are all the sound effects so weak? WHY DID THEY CHANGE THE CAMERA ANGLES?

All of camelot's games since the freaking Genesis era had that signature angle, where'd it go?! Light and Dark are things now? But they were only symbols before. But they're still not things because all light and dark themed stuff still has an element, what? Why only one new summon?

Why is it only there as obvious nostalgia bait? Why'd they change some summon designs, but not others? Why are some of them soooo lame compared to before (Megaera, what'd they do to you?!)? Wait, why is Weyard being depicted as round at some times, and flat in others? It's always been a flat world, what gives? Why is Kolima HERE?
